(June 2007) Team Steiner Kicks Off Successful Summer Season

Ringeos, NJ – The summer season started with a bang for the Betsy Steiner Dressage squad.  The team traveled to the ESDCTA Memorial Day Show at the Jersey Horse Park May 25-27. Angie Voss had her first outing on Loredo, a 12-year-old Oldenburg recently imported from Germany  with the help of Team Steiner.  The pair received first and second place honors in their Third Level tests. On June 9-10, Voss and Loredo did it again, this time at the Delaware Valley Horseman’s Association dressage show.  Saturday the pair received a 69% in Third Level Test 2.  This score also earned the pair the Third Level High Score Championship.  On Sunday, they repeated their success and took home yet another blue ribbon.  “We knew that Loredo and Angie were a good match”, said Jessie Steiner, “and their early success confirms it.”

Also receiving high marks at the ESDCTA Memorial Day Show were Melissa Jackson and Wellington in the USEF High Performance division.  Jackson took home third place in the Prix St. Georges on a 66.000%.  The pair returned to the ring in the Intermediare 1 to improve their score to a 68.750% and a second place ribbon.  It is no surprise this impressive duo has been invited to Gladstone to vie for a spot on US Pan American Team.

Also making an appearance at this competition was Eventing client, Sara Dierks.  Dierks hoped to prepare her horse, Somerset II for the highly competitive Jersey Fresh CCI ** the following weekend.  With scores in the 65% range as Second Level Test 4, this pair felt prepared for the dressage phase of Jersey Fresh ahead of them.  Dierks also monopolized First Level Test 3, taking the top two ribbons on two horses, Puzzle It Out and Manolo Blahnik received a 71.429% and a 68.571%, respectively.

Betsy Steiner kept busy into the weekend of May 30 through June 3, instructing her Eventing clients to much success at the Jersey Fresh CCI.  Bruce (Buck) Davidson took a second place overall finish in the CCI**.  With the help of Steiner’s instruction for the dressage test,  Karen O’Connor placed sixth in the CCI***.  Both Karen O’Connor and Theodore O’Connor are on course to travel to Brazil for the Pan American games later this summer.

Next stop for Team Steiner is Gladstone for the USEF Festival of Champions, were Betsy Steiner will divide her time among students, friends, and a book signing hosted by The Tack Store.  Ironically, Betsy’s long time student and New York Times Best selling author, Tami Hoag will be on hand for her book signing!
